
SPS PreK Transition
We spent the month of April working on transitioning 22 kiddos to Kindergarten in the fall! We visited Mrs. Ricker and Kindergarten, Mr. Hagen for Music, & Mr. Kelly for gym. We also ate in the new lunchroom twice! Here we come! We are ready!





The Prom banquet is being moved the the HS cadeteria tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Due to wet fields, the high school baseball game scheduled for today versus Kim/Branson has been canceled, The game will not be rescheduled as the team starts district playoffs on Tuesday.


Thank you to the 7th Grade Life Skills class for the handmade staff appreciation cards! What a wonderful way to end the week.



The freshmen life skills class learned how to iron a dress shirt this week . . .right in time for Prom.





Elementary Field Day has been moved to Monday, May 8th.


Student Council is sponsoring the "Leadership Spotlight" this semester. The spotlight will recognize Springfield High School's top leaders and their impact on their fellow students. This week we recognize Ella Swanson.


The Springfield School District Board of Education will host its regular monthly meeting on Monday, April 24 @ 6:00 PM. The agenda notes a change in location from SES Library to the SHS Commons area to enjoy our new space. https://5il.co/1sz3l

Due to a 4 1/2 hour delay of the Amtrak train, the kindergarten students and teachers had to be very flexible and creative on their field trip yesterday! But they still had a great day!




Yesterday, the freshmen "greenhands" celebrated getting their FFA Greenhand degrees by participating in the tradition of dying their hands green and decorating the ceiling tiles.

Congratulations to the FCCLA members who competed at the State FCCLA competition in Denver on April 6th-8th.
Aliya Cohoon competed in Career Investigation receiving a Silver Award. Aliya investigated the career of nurse anesthetist.
Cooper Stolebarger, Colin Swanson and Gunnar Mort competed in Chapter Service portfolio receiving a Gold Award and second place. These boys wrote a grant to start a care closet in the high school providing hygiene products to students in need.
Karina Garcia, Bay Ellis and Rayne Thomas competed in Focus on Children and received a Gold Award and first place. These girls started a toy drive to provide toys for Southeast Colorado Hospital to give children seen in the emergency room or who have procedures done.
Cooper, Colin, Gunnar, Karina, Bay and Rayne will compete at the National FCCLA Convention in July in Denver.




The SPS Pre-K Citizens of the Month recognized in April are Chloe Reid from the Blue Team and Khaleesi Tate from the Yellow Team! Congratulations to these respectful, responsible, good citizens!

Immediate Announcement:
Springfield JH Track on Friday, April 7 in LaJunta is canceled due to staffing shortage (bus drivers). Administration and coaches are working hard to find a new meet later in the season for participation.

A long standing tradition for seniors has been to have a countdown on lockers in the hallway. Even though they are only get to enjoy this new space for a short time, the Class of 2023 is making it their own. Let the countdown begin!
