It's a Great Day to be a Longhorn, welcoming our new staff: Kira Oliver. Ms. Oliver graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Wyoming, and found her way to OPSU to study mathematics. She is an avid reader, adventurer, and loves her family (including the 4-legged canines). Ms. Oliver began teaching Math in 2018 in Guymon, OK, but found her way to Baca County (Vilas) shortly after. She is excited to continue her Math teaching career as a Longhorn, and will impact students as the SHS Volleyball Coach and Student Council Advisor.

The Two Buttes (North) bus route will run as usual this school year. Several families have reached out asking about the school's ability to run the route. We have a fully certified driver and are planning for the morning and afternoon routes daily beginning August 14. Your driver will contact families as enrollment details iron out the week of August 07.

It's a Great Day to be a Longhorn, welcoming our new staff: Darian Schaller. Darian is a lifetime Longhorn & is going to teach K-5 PE this school year. Darian says "I’ve always been a pretty big sports fan, especially when it comes to basketball. I really enjoy coaching and getting the opportunity to work with the kids. In my free time, I like to travel, work on a couple old cars, and spend some time with family and friends. I’m excited to be able to start my teaching career in my hometown." ~ We are very excited too Darian!

FROM SPEINGFIEKD POLICE DEPT
-NEW STOP SIGN-
-Cedar Street and 5th Street Intersection-
On Cedar Street at the intersection of 5th street where there previously was a YIELD sign, it has now been replaced with a STOP sign. This change has occurred due to the new school and the increased vehicle traffic and pedestrian traffic that is expected.
SPD will attempt to be lenient with citations while we all get used to the change, however, when school begins it will be enforced fully for the safety of the children!
Thank you for being supportive of the added traffic safety feature to protect our schools!

Our cheer teams have been working hard at cheer camp. Some of our girls earned nominations for All American Cheerleader. They will tryout tomorrow on the last day of camp.
