The annual tournament is held in honor of R.L. Ballard, longtime fan of Springfield High School.  R.L. was a tireless supporter of the youth of this community for many, many years until his death at 82 ½ years on November 11, 1998. 

This tournament was established to support a scholarship program started from memorials given in his memory. 

R.L.’s legacy will continue for years to come as you support the scholarship fund by your attendance.
